Geoffrey K. Hansen


Mr. Hansen has over 30 years’ experience helping a broad spectrum of clients with workers compensation, EEOC, DEFH, and other employment-related matters. He represents clients in diverse industries before the WCAB and other courts and agencies. He has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a significant accomplishment, confirming that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest levels of professional excellence and ethical standards. He has been certified as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization from 1983 to the present.

Mr. Hansen’s broad base of experience includes:

For eight years, between 1991 and 1998, he served with the Department of Industrial Relations, most of this time as the Presiding Workers’ Compensation Judge in the Redding District Office.

He was a member of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California Workers’ Compensation Section, from 1995 to 1998, serving as section Secretary in 1997 and section Chair in 1998.

He represents clients in both governmental agencies and private industry, including construction, ski resorts, retail, and trucking industries in defending Workers Compensation claims, LC 132(a) claims and Serious and Willful Claims. He also defends discrimination and harassment claims before the EEOC and DFEH and other courts and agencies. His practice also includes consultation in claims handling and litigation practices. He has served as an expert witness on multiple occasions in cases involving these issues.

Mr. Hansen provides consultation to insurance carriers and self-insured employers in claims involving the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. He also develops and handles submission and approval of Medicare Set-Aside Arrangements with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Mr. Hansen is a member of the California State Bar, the Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association, the Valley Industrial Claims Association, the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals and the Mt. Shasta Ski Patrol. He has been married to Kathy for 29 years and has 2 daughters. Outside interests include fly fishing, golfing, skiing and outdoor emergency medical treatment.

Michel C. LeClerc


After obtaining his Juris Doctorate at the University of Oregon School of Law in 1989, Mr. LeClerc was admitted to the Oregon Bar in 1989 and the California Bar in 1991. He is certified as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization and now limits his practice to California. In 2006 and 2008, Mr. LeClerc was selected by Law and Politics Magazine as one of the top 100 lawyers in Northern California.

Mr. LeClerc’s practice emphasizes the defense of employers against claims for workers’ compensation, wages and penalties, discrimination (FEHA), EDD and OSHA. In addition, he assists employers in developing employee handbooks, leave policies (FMLA/CFRA), personnel practices and procedures and drug testing policies. He also serves as an arbitrator in WCAB proceedings.

Mr. LeClerc provides consultation services to workers’ compensation insurers and self-insured employers in claims involving the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. In addition, he develops and handles submission and approval of Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Aside Arrangements with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Mr. LeClerc creates and presents training seminars to employers and claims professionals covering a variety of topics, including customized seminars addressing specific client needs. Mr. LeClerc is a certified provider of continuing education by the California Department of Insurance.

Mr. LeClerc has several recently-reported cases, including Boehm & Assoc v. WCAB (2003) 108 CA 4th 137 and Herrera v. WCAB (2003) 68 Cal. Comp. Cases 1389. Mr. LeClerc is a member of the American Bar Association, California State Bar and the Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association.

Mr. LeClerc lives in Redding, CA, with his wife and three daughters. In addition to practicing law, he enjoys skiing, competition tennis and sharing meals with friends.
